NUTRITION RULES FOR THE SKINNY GUY
We all know that one person who can eat what ever they want and still not put on a pound. Many people would look at that person with envy, because they don’t have to watch what they eat or worry about their weight. Although this sounds like an advantage, it can be a bit of a pain if you’re trying to add some weight and muscle to your bones. Below are some tips on how to gain weight the healthy way.
Carbs, Carbs, Carbs
With a high metabolism you can take advantage of a higher carbohydrate intake. The benefit of this is you can eat a boat load of them without getting full, so take advantage and eat a serving with every meal. Starchy, unprocessed, wholegrain carbs will help you feel and look great. With the extra carbs in your diet you will be full of energy even after an intense workout. Try to opt away from to many carb drinks as they can contain a high level of sugar.
High Protein Intake
A protein shake during and after your workout will do wonders for your muscle recovery, and will allow you to work harder in the gym while gaining great results. What you are trying to do is increase your calorie intake until you start to see some weight and muscle gain, which is the opposite to someone on a diet. For example start by adding 500 calories to your daily diet and increase the number if you see no gain. This should be done in conjunction with a regular workout routine.
Pace Yourself
People with high metabolisms will find themselves eating every two to four hours. But as you workout you may find that your bodies metabolism will increase. This is because your muscles need to repair, on top of your usual eating habits. Your main focus needs to be eating regularly and correctly. Eat foods that will benefit your muscle growth and repair.
Balance
Although you need to increase your carbohydrate intake you also need to keep a balance diet. This means continue to eat protein and vegetables with every meal for vitamins and minerals. Although you have a high metabolism, try and stay away from the fast, fatty foods.
Gaining weight and muscle is not an easy task and will require a lot of discipline if you want to see good results.
