TIPS TO BUILD YOUR CHEST

Your chest is made up of one single muscle, but should be trained like it is broken up into 3 parts. To do this you have to stimulate your upper, middle and lower portions by changing the angle you perform the exercise.

For beginners your chest best responds to low to medium reps ranging from 4-6 or 8-12. When starting out heavier weights are great to help build a solid foundation. To help get your body adjusted to the weight and target the correct areas, it’s good to start with free weights, like dumbbells.

Upper Chest

To best stimulate the upper chest your exercises should be done on a 30-45% incline bench. These exercises can be found on our upper chest workout.

Middle Chest

To best stimulate the middle chest area your exercises should be done on a flat bench. You will notice your mid section tighten throughout each exercise. Some exercises that target your mid section are dumbbell bench press and flat dumbbell press.

Lower Chest

To best stimulate the lower chest your exercises should be completed on a 30-45% decline bench. Some exercises designed to target your lower back are decline barbell and dumbbell bench press.

Remember when completing any strength exercises you need to make sure you keep perfect form to see progress and avoid injuries.
