JUMP, JUMP, JUMP!

Skipping is one of the most beneficial exercises and one of the most over looked. Most people would have used a skipping rope while they were at school and now only associate it as child’s play. But did you know that skipping is estimated to burn as much as 1000 calories per hour, and a 10 minute skip has been found to be the equivalent of a 30 minute run at 9km per hour.

Skipping uses just about every muscle in your body, including your abs. It’s great for your heart and helps improve bone density, which is important to help prevent osteoporosis.

Although the statistics are amazing, you would be hard pressed to find someone who could actually skip for an hour. But just incorporating a few minutes here and there in your workout routine will make all the difference.

Routine

Skipping can be used as a workout alone or can be incorporated into your daily routine. It’s a cheap, highly beneficial and should be incorporated into your workout routine everyday. For the best benefits why not try high intensive intervals, which start slow for a few minutes, rest for 30 seconds, then go as fast as you can for 60 seconds and rest for 30 seconds. Repeat 3-4 times and increase the time as you get used to the routine.

The Fitquip team wish you all the best with your exercise and fitness goals.
