CROSS TRAINER VS EXERCISE BIKE

When purchasing fitness equipment for your home there are several factors that need to be considered. Both elliptical cross trainers and exercise bikes have there own advantages including calories burned during the workout, ease of use, cost and what suites you workout goals most.

Cross Trainer

Elliptical cross trainers use your whole body, so you can lessen the time of your workout, but still increase the number of calories burned. Cross trainers give you the feeling of running while your feet remain stationary, which means less stress on your knees, hips and back. If you are looking to lose weight and increase your fitness levels, then using a cross trainer would be more effective. Elliptical cross trainers also require space within the home as you have to consider the arms and legs moving back and forth.

Exercise Bike

Exercise bikes are a less intense workout because it take longer to raise your heart rate. If you are planning on doing an intense cardio or weight training routine then a 10 minute warm up on the bike is perfect. They are quite, compact, require less space and are incredibly easy to use. Although the exercise bike uses less muscles then the cross trainer you can still achieve an intensive cardio workout by doing interval training. One feature about the exercise bikes that is most important is the comfort of the seat. If the seat is uncomfortable you wont be able to use it for long periods of time.

Comparison

Both elliptical cross trainers and exercise bikes are low impact exercises, which means less wear and tear. If you are looking at loosing weight or getting fit then both exercise machines will do the job if used correctly. Exercise bikes are a good machine to start off with as you can use it to increase your fitness level before you start to include weight training and more cardio intense workouts. Elliptical cross trainers can take time to adjust to, however they are a great over all workout and you will see benefits quickly.
