TREADMILL VS ELLIPTICAL CROSS TRAINER

A lot of people ask the question, “What is the difference between a Treadmill and a Cross Trainer and which is better?”. Although there are significant differences between the two products, they both offer the same benefits. The real question is which one will suit you and your fitness goals better? To help answer this question we have put the advantages on both pieces of equipment.

Advantages of a Treadmill

Treadmills are fitted with padded running mats and for extra support, some are fitted with extra cushioning. These mats help prevent unnecessary strain and impact on your joints. Running on a treadmill is great for improving your bone density which reduces the risk of osteoporosis as you grow older. Treadmills are extremely versatile and can be used by beginners to advanced users, which means they are a lot more convenient for elderly people. This also means that treadmills can be used by the whole family.

Treadmills are the third most cardio intense exercise equipment. This is because treadmills have a motor which controls the speed and incline for you. This is a great feature because it forces you to push yourself to go harder and faster which means you can shed unwanted kilos quicker.

Advantages of an Elliptical Cross Trainer

Elliptical Cross Trainers are the second most cardio intense exercise equipment. This is because you are the motor and you control the speed. Cross Trainers are a lot more intense workout compared to the Treadmill because you can change between using your arms to do most of the work or you can just run. Cross Trainers can be used by a number of people, however they need to have roughly the same or smaller stride length then tallest person.

Elliptical Cross Trainers put far less stress on your knees, hips and back, because your feet remain stationary through the workout. Like the Treadmill, Cross Trainers come with preset customized workouts which increase the resistance making your legs and arms work harder. Cross Trainers are available in two different styles, rear wheel and front wheel. Both offer a different feel and running style, but still offer you a great cardio workout.

Over all both Treadmills and Elliptical Cross Trainers give you a fantastic cardio and aerobic workout and both allow you to adjust the intensity of your workout to your own comfort level.
